Reel Maintenance
How
do you maintain your fishing Reels?
Washing
it down with plenty of fresh water is a start. Using SaltX
is even better. When you spray on the SaltX you know that
the salt will not adhere and you can be confident that you are
not damaging your fishing line. Some use WD40 and that
will damage your fishing line.
If you do not take good care of your reels how will
they fair in a big fish fight? Bring them in to our store and
let us take a look at them. Just bring them in early!
Do not bring them in for service and tell us you need them for a
trip in two days!
Spooling of fresh Line
When
do you need to re-spool up with fresh line?
If you have a old spool there
are several ways the line can go bad. If it remembers the
shape of the reel too much is a good example of being overdue
for fresh line. Also check for abrasions on the line
deep inside the spool full of line. (just let some out and
bring it back in with your fingers feeling for nicks etc.).
Look for discoloration or a 'dry' look that is caused by sun
damage to the line.
Custom Wind on Leaders
You want your hooks and leaders YOUR way!
Wind on leaders with your preferred hooks. In the
length and test just right. Set up a few or a few dozen
before your next big game trip.
